Surutipalli

A rarest, beautiful and big idol of lord shiva in reclining posture on the lap of Parvathi along with God and Goddesses around which is  in the temple at Surutipalli, a village situated in Nagalapuram mandal, Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh and it is on the banks of River Aruna. Idol importance:   The main idol in this temple is Sarvamangala Sametha Sri Pallikondeswara Swamy. The idol Lord Shiva in this temple is in reclining position and is on the lap of Goddess Parvathi (sarvamangala). So this temple is called Sayana Sivalayamu, also called as Pradosha Kshetramu, Nandi kshetramu.  Surul means God, all the Gods and Goddesses came here to see Lord Shiva who slept for a second after drinking poison under the pagada tree. So it is called as Surutipalli. The temple was built during the Vijayanagara dynasty by Harihara Bukkaraya at the period of 1344-1377.
