The Veda Narayana Swamy Temple is situated in Nagalapuram, Chittoor District. It is 65 kilometres from Tirupathi. This temple is the first incarnation of Lord Vishnu which is in the form of a Fish to rescue the Vedas and this is called as the Matsyavatharam. Nagalapuram also called as Arigandapuram meaning bodes danger to enemies . Brahma could not find Vishnu in Vaikuntam. So He came in search of God and found Him here, so it is named as Harigandapuram which means a place where Hari is found. He rescued the vedas here so the God here is called as Veda Narayana Swamy. It is also called as Vedapuri, Vedaaranya Kshetramu. The idol in this temple is Vedavalli Sametha Lakshmi Narayana Swamy. The upper part is human and lower part is fish.The Idol is in standing position and holding chakra indicating that the Somakasura was just killed using the Chakra.
