Sri Mandeswara (Saneswara) Swamy Temple, Mandapalli
Sri Mandeswara Swamy (Saneswara) Swamy Temple is a famous Siva Temple sitauted in Mandapalli, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh.
Lord Siva is the main idol of the temple which was installed by Lord Sani (Saturn). Lord Sani atoned the sin of Brahmahatya by installing and adoring Lord Siva. As the idol of Siva has been installed by Lord Sani, Lord Eswara is popularly known as Saneswara.
Till oil Abhishekam is genereally done to Lord Sani. As this Siva Linga has been installed by Lord Sani here Til oil Abhishekam is done to Siva Linga and no other Siva Linga will be having Til oil Abhishekam.
The Mandapalli Kshetra Mahtyam goes as follows:
Once there were two demons namely Ashwatha and Pippala. They both used to move in disguise, Ashvatha in the form of a ravi Tree and Pippala in the form of Brahmana. Both used to destroy the yagnas performed by the rishis and they used to eat the Brahmanas who comes to the forest. Then the Rishis asked Lord Sani the son of Lord Surya to kill the Demons. Lord Sani who was doing penance accepted to kill them once he completed his penance. The Rishis told Sani that they will give away the power of their Penance to him and asked him to kill the demons immediately. Sani accepted their request and killed Ashvatha and Pippala. As both the demons were the children of Sacred Brahmans Lord Sani got the effect of Brahmahatya Dosam. So inorder to get rid of the Brahmahatya sin Lord Sani established Siva Linga in Mandapalli.
Lord Sani told that Til oil Abhishekam and Til, jaggery offerings to be done to the Siva Linga established by him. Sani also has name Mundudu so here the lord is known Mandeswara and so the village got the name as Mandapalli.
Lord Sani declared that whoever worship Sri Mandeswara Swamy with Gingelli oil would be blessed and get free from all Graha Dosams.

Spatika Sivalinga established by Karkotama named Snake called as Nageswara Swamy
The Kshetrapalakudu of Mandapalli is Venugopalaswamy. This idol is established by Gowthama Maharshi.
On Sani Trayodasi day Til Oil Abhishekams are done from 5 am to 12 noon and every saturday from 4am to 1pm after noon.
